Easter worship at ex-church that became nightclub

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) -

Easter is marking the re-opening of a Pontiac church that went through several years as a nightclub.

The Oakland Press says it's taken $1 million to transform the former Clutch Cargo's nightclub into the home of Greater Grace Fellowship.

The Rev. Pastor Kent Clark says it's "a tremendous day" for his congregation.

First Congregational Church of Pontiac was dedicated in 1962.

The Gothic-style church sold the building in 1997 to investors who renovated it and made it The Sanctum nightclub.

It was sold in 1999 and later reopened as Clutch Cargo.

The 30,000-square-foot, four-story church seats about 750.
