CHARLESTON, S.C. (WWBT/WCIV) - A pregnant South Carolina mother was kicked out of a gym for violating the dress code because her "belly was hanging out," according to Charleston station WCIV.

Melissa Mantor is 18 weeks pregnant. She claims an employee at West Ashley Planet Fitness approached her and asked her to leave while she was on a treadmill.

"I was very confused," said Mantor. "She continued telling that my belly was hanging out and I need to get it covered up. I told her at that time, 'Of course my belly is hanging out, I am pregnant.'"

Mantor said the whole scene was so embarrassing that she decided to cancel her membership early - but when she went to cancel, she had another awkward encounter with gym staff.

"My account must have been flagged, because the girl filling out my cancellation form told me that she was told by her boss to remind me that I was in violation of the dress code," said Mantor. "She started asking more questions, causing a scene in front of two other patrons and two employees, so I walked away."
