MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) -
A Detroit-area high school pitcher who is 37-0 is recovering after a line drive struck him in the face.

Garrett Schilling of Madison Heights Bishop Foley will need surgery to repair broken bones. The injury occurred Thursday during a game against Macomb Lutheran North.

Stitches from the baseball have left marks on Schilling's face. He tells TV station WDIV he's a "little banged up" but "feeling all right" at a Royal Oak hospital.

Coach Buster Sunde says he had planned to pull Schilling after four innings but his star pitcher hadn't given up a hit. Schilling plans to play college baseball for Xavier in Cincinnati.
