Work is underway on a new roundabout in Mid-Michigan.
Michigan Department of Transportation crews began working on the intersection of US-10 and Patrick Roads in Midland Monday morning.
One machine started snapping up small trees and removing them from the area, which is just east of Washington Street along the M-20/U.S. 10 Business Route at the Patrick Road crossover.
Motorists need to know that the traffic restrictions during construction are that westbound U.S.10 business traffic will continue, but traffic along the crossover will be detoured via Washington, Haley and Saginaw streets.
The project was scheduled to start earlier this month, but was delayed due to heavy frost in the ground.
MDOT says the project will ease the flow of traffic, and save lives. MDOT is investing $1 point 1 million in safety improvements at the intersection.
Drivers should expect lane closures and detours until the project wraps up this fall.
