A panel from the Republican National Committee visited Cincinnati on Tuesday to learn more about the city that's bidding to host the party's 2016 national convention.
Alex Triantafilou, chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party, appears on Wednesday's FOX19 Morning News, to talk about the visit.
Cincinnati is one of six cities bidding for the quadrennial gathering where the GOP will officially nominate its candidate president and its candidate for vice president.
The other cities are Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Kansas City, Mo. and Cleveland.
The eight-person delegation's visit
on Tuesday focused on the U.S. Bank Arena, the Duke Energy Convention Center, area hotels
and event spaces. The group also spent time in briefings assessing the critical
technical aspects of hosting a convention such as financing, security,
transportation and telecommunications, a statement said.
"We had a very productive and
successful site visit today," said John Barrett, CEO of Western Southern
Financial Group. "We're confident that the team was impressed by the amenities,
convenience, accessibility and unique charm of our Queen City. Our team
delivered top-notch presentations and successfully showcased Cincinnati's
ability to serve as host of the 2016 Republican National Convention."
