The father of FedEx gunman Geddy Kramer told CBS46 News that the man who shot six people Tuesday was not the son he knew.
"I love him, and I miss him and I wish I knew him better," said Scott Kramer outside the home he shared with his 19-year-son. "All parents should go home and hug their children right now."
Scott Kramer didn't want to say much more about his son, preferring to address the victims and their families.
"We offer our deepest heartfelt sympathies, and we wish you very speedy and complete recoveries and hope you can get back to your normal lives as quickly as possible," he said.
According to Cobb County police, Geddy Kramer, a package handler for FedEx, was heavily armed when he entered his workplace in Kennesaw just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. FedEx security guards, who are unarmed, were powerless to stop him.
First, Kramer shot security guard Chris Sparkman, 28, in the stomach with a shotgun, police said. Kramer then entered the building and shot five more people. Sparkman was scheduled for a third surgery Thursday. Two other victims, a 52-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, also remain hospitalized, authorities said.
Police have not discussed a motive in the shooting.
