A Phoenix teen has been arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, police said Thursday.
Cougar Ybarra, 18, was taken into custody at about 6:30 a.m. in the area of 20400 N. 21st Avenue after detectives with the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant at the home.
Detectives said they found numerous items of child pornography, including videos and still photographs of 10-year-old children to infants, according to an officer's probable cause statement.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided the task force with eight cybertips identifying Ybarra as having uploaded 599 images to servers owned and operated by a worldwide cloud storage company on Jan. 5, according to the statement.
Investigators traced the IP address to a home where Ybarra lives with adult family members.
Detectives recovered a laptop belonging to Ybarra during a search of the house. The laptop contained more than 600 images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, according to the statement.
Ybarra said he was introduced to child pornography as a juvenile by participants in a chat room, according to the statement.
He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
People who might be able to help police in their investigation are asked to call the Internet Crimes Against Children Detail at 623-466-1828 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO (480-837-8446) for Spanish.
