MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Elvis has entered the building.

The Mesa Police Department offered the public a "sneak peek" at its newest K9 addition with a department Facebook post April 30 with a photo of the dog named Elvis sitting in a desk chair at the Mesa Police Department.

"He's in training now and he'll be hitting the streets soon. In the meantime, it looks like he's already showing our Sgt. who the real boss is," the post read.

Jake, another Mesa police K9, is recovering from surgery after he was stabbed multiple times by a burglary suspect on April 26.

Jake, an 80-pound Belgian Malinois, is a veteran Mesa K9 and is expected to recover.
