CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

Cinco de Mayo festivities got underway early in Chandler on Saturday with the popular Chihuahua races.

The event at the Chandler Public Library's courtyard saw the crowning of the King and Queen Chihuahua. The races were sponsored by Salt River Project.

The annual celebration is hosted by Si Se Puede Foundation and honors the Hispanic community's many contributions to the City of Chandler.

Chandler's celebration also included two stages of entertainment, including performances by the Los Chinelos Dancers and the Sí Se Puede Dance folklorico group.

The festival unveiled a new beer garden offered by the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership and San Tan Brewing Company.

A health fair sponsored by the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan included free health screenings and healthy living information.
