Dunham Writing and Corexcel have partnered to provide "Kentucky: HIV Awareness in the Workplace" (approved as course # 0416-1612-M) for 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Corexcel has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Having provided online training and testing solutions for two years, Dunham Writing has developed a site that is at the pinnacle of user friendliness. Navigation is straightforward, and the site's overall design contributes toward users achieving their purpose with zero frustration. Everything that prospective test takers need to prepare and successfully complete their chosen course is available directly on site.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, HIV/AIDS education programs for the workplace should prioritize facts and compassion. The goal is to share essential and possibly lifesaving information with all workers, while also maintaining a comfortable setting for both HIV-positive workers and their peers. Education should be proactive in separating fact from myth. Privacy is another major factor in this equation: HIV-positive workers have a right to share or not share their status with co-workers as they see fit.

Naturally, some work environments create more risk than others as far as the potential spread of bloodborne pathogens. Healthcare workers in particular typically require extra levels of training to deal with these risks, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) hands down regulations on making these workplaces as safe as possible.

The target audience for Dunham Writing's new test is healthcare professionals in Kentucky, as well as any businesses requiring HIV/AIDS awareness training for employees. Earning course credentials is a three-step process. Users first read the PDF document containing their course material, which can be viewed in a browser or downloaded to a desktop. "Kentucky: HIV Awareness in the Workplace" covers five key knowledge areas: defining HIV/AIDS; understanding transmission and prevention; minimizing exposure and dispelling myths; identifying legal issues and patient rights; and supporting patients with information and counseling.

After studying the course material, users then take the appropriate online test. Upon completion, users register, pay their course fee, and print their certificate. In addition to Kentucky's "HIV Awareness in the Workplace," Dunham Writing also offers "HIV 7: Awareness" and "HIV/BBP" for Washingtonians. Participants in Washington have the additional option of completing their test via email or regular mail.

The testing solutions provided by Dunham Writing are made possible through a partnership with Corexcel, an award-winning ANCC and IACET-accredited continuing education and training provider since 1984.
