HUDSONVILLE, MI (WNEM) -
A high school senior on the west side of the state is insisting on sharing her graduation day with her dog.
The girl, named Desi, has cerebral palsy and says she never would have made it through high school if it wasn't for her service dog, Walton.
The six-year-old golden retriever helps 17-year-old Desi walk and keep her balance. So, when Desi graces the stage during her graduation ceremony at Freedom Christian High School in Hudsonville, Walton will be right by her side sporting a cap and gown as well.
"It seems like such a long time I don't even know what I did before I had him I don't even know how I functioned," says Desi.
Desi says after graduation, she hopes to work at an animal rescue or shelter. She says she loves animals and Walton would fit right in.
