MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer and the driver of a pickup truck suffered injuries when the driver struck a DPS vehicle pulled to the side of the road on U.S. Highway 60 in Mesa.

The officer was stopped on the right shoulder with his emergency lights on while completing notes from a traffic stop he just finished when the pickup veered to the right and struck the officer's SUV, said Carick Cook of DPS.

The truck struck the left side of the SUV and rolled. The driver had to be extricated, Cook said.

None of the injuries to either person were considered life-threatening, Cook said.

The crash slowed traffic in three lanes of eastbound U.S. 60.

The investigation was continuing.
