Residents want eyesore cleaned up

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

It's an eye sore that spans several city blocks and now neighbors want the mess cleaned up.

Back in November, residents called to report a safety concern at the old Baker Perkins building.

Maxie Roby takes pride in his neighborhood. His home has a view of the blight and he's sick of it.

Kirk Bedell is Roby's neighbor. He too is upset with the condition of the site on Saginaw's southside. They both want to know who owns it and why they don't do something with this banged up looking building.

TV5 reached out the city of Saginaw to get some information about the owner because of a giant hole in the wall that made it easy for children to get inside. The city of Saginaw, without hesitation, patched it up.

At that time, TV5 also learned the building was in foreclosure for unpaid taxes. We spoke with the county treasurers office and the previous owners lost the building because they owe about $40-thousand in back taxes and we're told the buildings were stripped by the previous owners of expensive metals.

As for these frustrated residents, they hope the county does something quickly about the eye sore in their neighborhood.
