EAST TAWAS, MI (AP) -

The communities of East Tawas, Wyandotte and Benton Harbor are getting a share of more than $3 million in federal grants to help boost recreational boating.

The funding was announced Wednesday by U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow of Michigan.

Grants include $1.3 million for a state harbor dock renovation in East Tawas, nearly $1.2 million for Bishop Park marina in Wyandotte and nearly $700,000 for Harbor Shores marina in Benton Harbor.

The money is through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Boating Infrastructure Grant program.
