LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A helicopter ride provided a more expansive view of tornado damage in Limestone County Wednesday.
Damage is hard to describe at any altitude, but the destruction was quite evident. Flying along Bay Hill Marina, downed trees and torn roofs could be seen. Boats still remain scattered along the water's edge and on dry land.
As you move into the Coxey area, where a mobile home park was destroyed, it is the image of blank spots where homes once stood that is most striking.
Also noticeable from the air is the amount of clean-up performed in just the last week and a half. Where roads were once impassible from downed limbs and tangled debris, you can see paths that are either nearly cleared or totally passable once again.
The view from a chopper provided a unique glimpse of time stood still, as well as recovery in action.
