Graffiti vandals cause thousands of dollars in damage

MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

Local police are looking for graffiti vandals accused of causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Mt. Pleasant police say someone is leaving the markings on businesses, residential, and public properties across the city.

Graffiti is often used by gang members as a way to mark their turf.  But Mt. Pleasant police officer Jeff Browne doesn't think gangs are behind these signs.

Investigators are asking the public to be on the look-out for individuals lurking around businesses. They may be carrying backpacks.

When the vandals are caught, they'll have to help clean up the mess they created. Until then, it's up to the business and property owners to cover the costs.
