Wildcats underway at NCAA Central Regional

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

No. 10 Arizona women's golf completed the first round of play at the NCAA Central Regional Championships on Thursday. The three-round, three-day event is being hosted by Oklahoma State at Karsten Creek Golf Course (par 72, 6,200 yards) in Stillwater, Okla. One round of play is being contested each day with 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. MST/PT tee times daily.

No. 9 Alabama and No. 35 California share the lead in the team race with rounds of 295 (+7). No. 21 Florida and No. 39 Kent State share a tie for third place with rounds of 296 (+8). No. 10 Arizona and Colorado share a tie for 12th place with rounds of 306 (+18). Wad Phaewchimplee of Kent State leads the individual race with a seven-under par score of 65.

No. 11 sophomore Lindsey Weaver and junior Manon Gidali sit in an eight-way tie for 17th place with rounds of 74 (+2). Junior Kendall Prince sits in a 13-way tie for 55th place with a round of 77 (+5).

No. 37 freshman Wanasa Zhou sits in a 12-way tie for 90th place after shooting an opening round of 81 (+9). No. 84 freshman Jessica Vasilic rounds out the Arizona five in a seven-way tie for 102nd place with a round of 82 (+10).

No. 10 Arizona will tee at 9:56 a.m. MST/PT on Friday for the second round of play. The Wildcats are paired with No. 15 LSU and No. 16 Oklahoma State.
