No. 10 Arizona women's golf finished seventh after the third and final round of play at the NCAA Central Regional Championships on Saturday. The three-round, three-day event was hosted by Oklahoma State at Karsten Creek Golf Course (par 72, 6,200 yards) in Stillwater, Okla. With their top-eight showing, the Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA Championships later this month.
No. 3 UCLA won the team title with an 875 (+11). No. 9 Alabama earned a runner-up finish with an 892 (+28). No. 33 Mississippi State rounded out the top three with an 893 (+29). No. 10 Arizona finished seventh with a total of 901 (+37) and daily rounds of 306, 289 and 306. Wad Phaewchimplee of No. 39 Kent State won the individual title with a 209 (-7).
Junior Manon Gidali was Arizona's top finisher in a tie for 13th place, her second top-20 placing of the season. She finished with a score of 220 (+4) and daily rounds of 74, 70 and 76. No. 11 sophomore Lindsey Weaver finished in a three-way tie for 29th place. With rounds of 74, 73 and 78, she scored a 225 (+9).
Junior Kendall Prince finished in a three-way tie for 32nd place. She shot rounds of 77, 73 and 76 for a score of 226 (+10). No. 37 freshman Wanasa Zhou finished tied for 49th place. She scored a 230 (+14) with rounds of 81, 73 and 76. No. 84 freshman Jessica Vasilic rounded out the Arizona five in a tie for 104th place. She scored a 244 (+29) with rounds of 82, 81 and 81.
University of Tulsa will host the four-round NCAA Championships Tues., May 20-Fri., May 23, at Tulsa Country Club.
