PHOENIX (CBS5) -
In Tom Kimbro's backyard sits what looks like a detached garage. But on the inside, it's an impressive man cave.
"Baseball's my passion," Kimbro said.
Kimbro has hundreds of baseball collectibles including caps, autographs, photos, ticket stubs and baseball cards. But his favorite is an autographed Babe Ruth photo his father gave him at age 15.
"It was either Babe Ruth, or Lou Gehrig that I had a choice of, and of course I took the Babe," Kimbro said.
Kimbro is quickly becoming known as "Thee Ballpark Man," a trademark he now owns. In 2002, he visited all 30 major league ballparks. This year, he's on a quest to visit all 28 U.S. parks.
"It's that time again. There are some new ballparks that have been built and I want to go see all of them so I'm going to make another full round of all the ballparks. I've been to 19 of them this year since April 5," Kimbro said.
In addition to the actual game, Kimbro said he enjoys the people in the stands. And after Chase Field, he said Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, is very fan friendly.
"I never have a problem there, no matter if you're wearing the opponent's jersey or hat, or whatever. The people are very open and they're very friendly, because it's baseball," Kimbro said.
Kimbro is in the process of sharing his passion by writing a book, titled Tour of Thee Ballpark Man. The book will have a chapter on every ballpark.
It will feature the cheapest way to get to each ballpark from the airport, the best meals at each park, and the best places to go before and after the game. Kimbro hopes the book will be out by the end of the year.
