Jayden Lamb's pay it forward legacy lives on

FREELAND, MI (WNEM) -

A local boy who lost his battle to cancer is still touching the hearts of strangers across Mid-Michigan and the world.

Jayden Lamb inspired thousands with his generous spirit and his pay it forward movement continues to spread. His legacy lives on through the Jayden Lamb Memorial Foundation. Wednesday, that charity received a special honor.

On Wednesday "Team Elmers" turned over a $5,000 check to the Jayden Lamb Memorial Foundation. A foundation started by Jayden's parents after their son lost his battle to cancer at just 9 years old.

Jayden's mission in life was to pay it forward and his parents continue that by sending other families who have lost a child on vacation.

Wednesday's financial boost for the foundation will buy peace for a struggling family and the gift came as a total surprise.

The Jayden Lamb Memorial Foundation wasn't initially supposed to be on the ballot to win the check, but thanks to a successful write in candidacy, that all changed.

"There was a category where people could write in other, and so many people wrote our name in and we won," said Tom Lamb, Jayden's dad.

The check left behind proof that Jayden's lesson of paying it forward lives on.
