Teen looking for help to find missing mother

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Crimestoppers of Genesee County is looking for help finding a mother who has been missing for more than five years.

Time has passed and memories have turned into vivid dreams for family members in hoping to find Elizabeth Land. They are hoping and praying she will be seen again.

Katie Thomas has a haunting, reoccurring dream of her mother. Thomas was 11 when her mom went missing.

"As soon as I'm through that door, she jumps up and hugs, and kisses me on the forehead and tells me how much she loves me," Thomas said.

Land, a mother of four, was last seen on Feb. 26, 2009. She was 26 at the time. She and a friend were on their way to a bar at the corner of Chevrolet and Flushing in Flint. Land was wearing a pink short sleeve shirt and a light blue jacket the last time anyone saw her. Thomas said her hair stuck out in a crowd.

"It was unnatural orange, or orangish red, it wasn't something you could dye your hair to be so pretty," Thomas said.

Thomas is 16 now and as she's grown older she said her mother's disappearance makes less and less sense.

"It would mean a lot just to know what happened at least," she said.

Flint police believe foul play may be involved in the case, but Thomas, she would like to have some answers. If anyone has any information, they can remain anonymous by calling 1-800 speak up.

A special Missing in Michigan event will be held on the campus of University of Michigan-Flint on Saturday. It will be open to families and friends affected by the disappearance of a loved one. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to attend.
