CARSON CITY, NV (FOX5) -

The board that oversees Nevada's health insurance exchange voted Tuesday to end its rocky relationship with Xerox Corporation as soon as possible.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange was created to help implement Obamacare in Nevada. Part of its purpose was creating Nevada Health Link - an online marketplace, created by Xerox, where Nevadans can buy health insurance.

Not long after its rollout, people began reporting problems with the website, including error messages and being unable to complete applications for insurance. Others reported that even after they bought their insurance, they had not received documentation to use the insurance.

Officials have blamed the problems on Xerox, saying the company was not transferring information from the website to insurance providers in a timely fashion.

Jennifer Wasmer, spokeswoman for Xerox, called Tuesday's decision extremely disappointing.

"Xerox has been unwavering in its commitment to Nevada Health Link and to getting all aspects of the exchange right," Wasmer said. "We have engaged the full breadth of Xerox's resources and have brought in external experts to meet that goal."

Wasmer said 190,000 Nevadans have been determined eligible for Medicaid, and 10,000 others have enrolled and paid for insurance, through the website.

CJ Bawden, spokesman for the state's exchange, said the state will use federal technology for online enrollments during the next period, which begins Nov. 15 and ends Feb. 15, 2015. He said the federal portal will transfer all the information to local insurers and Nevada's exchange will still be state-based.
