SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The Michigan Department of Transportation is hoping to make your holiday drive a little easier.

Beginning Friday afternoon and continuing until Tuesday morning, most road projects statewide will have lane restrictions removed.

While construction zones will be closed, MDOT officials say motorists should still be advised of equipment and minor shifts that may remain in place.

And while you're out on the road, Michigan State Police want to remind you to stay safe.

Make sure you wear your seat belts, drive with care, and stay sober or you risk getting an expensive ticket, jail time, or worse.

Police say 15 people died in Michigan crashes during the 2013 Memorial Day weekend.
