RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Fayetteville man pleaded guilty Monday to recording himself having sex with his underage stepdaughter.

A previously convicted sex offender, 38-year-old Ike David Simmons pleaded guilty Monday to manufacturing child pornography.

The Apex Police Department was initially tipped off by the victim's mother in July 2013. She told officers that her husband had molested her 16-year-old daughter for the past 4 years.

An affidavit said Simmons began a sexual relationship with the girl in October 2009. The report reveals the victim told her mother on July 31, 2013, that she was having a sexual relationship with her stepfather.

Upon his arrest, three computer hard drives and his iPhone were seized. Police said Simmons recorded himself with his iPhone molesting his stepdaughter, and then transferred the videos to the hard drives.

He was indicted Aug. 20, 2013, on charges of first-degree sexual offense of a child, two counts of statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and sex offense in a parental role.

Simmons faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and up to a maximum of 30 years on the conviction. If it is determined that he has had prior convictions related to sexual abuse, abusive sexual conduct with a minor, or an offense related to child pornography or sex trafficking of children, he faces a minimum of 35 years and a maximum term of life in prison.

Simmons' sentencing is set for Sept. 8.
