Road projects expected to snarl Midland traffic

Posted: Updated:
MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The commute for thousands of drivers in mid-Michigan is about to get more difficult. A major construction project is scheduled to begin Monday and it could impact your drive for months to come.

The northbound and southbound ramps on M-47 at U.S. 10 will be closed as well as the westbound U.S. 10 ramp to southbound M-47.

During this time, MDOT crews will work to replace M-47 bridges and redesign ramps at the interchange.

This isn't the only new issue on the roads on Monday. Construction on a roundabout in Midland also continues.

Work began in April but starting Monday, the Saginaw Road exit from westbound business 10 will be closed.

Drivers will have to follow the posted detour signs. The entire project is expected to wrap-up sometime next month.

Construction is also set to begin on eastbound U.S. 10. Crews will be working on the bridge over Patrick Road in Midland County.

One lane will be closed. The project began Monday morning.

This project should be complete by Wednesday morning.
