One person is dead after a fatal car accident early Sunday morning.
Akron Police say that alcohol appears to have played a role in a deadly one car accident that occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, near the intersection of Peckham Street and Wildwood Avenue.
According to detectives, the driver of a 2006 Mini Cooper lost control as the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Peckham Street and turned southbound onto Wildwood Avenue.
The impact from the vehicle striking a tree caused it to overturn onto its right side, partially ejecting the front seat passenger with the vehicle landing on him. The passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim's name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.
The Akron Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit will continue to investigate the accident.
No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
