Police are investigating a report by a 20-year-old gay man who said he was beaten by five to eight men during a gay pride celebration in downtown Detroit.
Officer Jennifer Moreno says Christin Howard was scheduled to speak Tuesday with investigators. She says the attack was reported Monday.
Equality Michigan says in a release that Howard was taking a photo Sunday with a friend along the popular RiverWalk when the men attacked him and used homophobic slurs. The group says video shows Howard fighting with the men.
Howard tells WXYZ-TV that the group starting calling him names and "it went from there."
Motor City Pride was held Sunday along the riverfront.
