Road commission investigated for possible embezzlement

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Saginaw County Road Commission is being tight-lipped on an embezzlement investigation which also involves state police and the county prosecutor's office.

Not one Saginaw County road commissioner would talk about an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Michigan State Police. MSP confirms it's looking into embezzlement allegations at the department.

Officials would not confirm nor deny that the former fleet and facilities manager Randy Emeott could be a part of the MSP investigation. Emeott recently resigned and retired from the department.

County Road Commission Director Dennis Borchard outlined what Emeott's responsibilities were as fleet and maintenance manager.

"He's responsible for three seperate facilities, the fleet, equipment, everything that functions in these garages and maintaining them as well," said Borchard.

Borchard also said that Emeott recently left after being with the department for 13 years and is eligible for pension benefits.

Borchard said the department is in a hiring freeze so for now, Emeott's position will not be filled.

TV5 asked commissioner Todd Hare when he might be able to talk about the investigation but he declined to comment.
