Suspect arrested in stolen automobile case

MINDEN CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A 30-year-old Minden City man has been arrested in connection with a stolen automobile, according to Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki.

The suspect was arrested after a thorough search of the Minden City area was conducted.

Early Monday morning a 2005 gray Chevy Trailblazer was reported stolen from the area and was located on Bay City-Forestville Road near Bad Axe Road, the sheriff's office said.

When deputies arrived to the scene the vehicle was overturned and the suspect had fled the scene.

St. Clair County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit responded to assist. The lead came up short and responding deputies continued to search the area for the suspect.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect with help from tips from area businesses and residents. The 30-year-old man was transported to the Sanilac County Jail, the sheriff's office said.

The incident remains under investigation and the suspect's name is being withheld pending arraignment.

Deputies were assisted by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, the Sanilac County Sheriff's Detective Bureau, Bingham Township Fire and EMS.
