Authorities in Michigan say a boy who was upset because his friend had a better bicycle called 911 to falsely report that the friend had been killed.
The Bay County sheriff's department and Bay City police responded Saturday evening to a home on Tierney Road in Bay County's Portsmouth Township. Undersheriff Troy Cunningham says the boy, who is younger than 10, told 911 that there was "blood everywhere."
Deputies say no one was killed or injured at the home. Cunningham says apparent jealousy over the bike prompted the call.
A woman who lives at the home says this isn't the first time something like this has happened. The woman says her family has been the victim of the boy's prank calls three times in the last month. Usually a pizza delivery guy shows up at her house, but this time it was the police.
The boy's step father told TV5 that the child is dealing with some emotional issues and is supposed to start seeing a new counselor.
The case is under investigation. No word yet in whether the boy who made the 911 call will face charges for making a false police report.
The sheriff's department plans to forward its reports on the case for review by the prosecutor's office.
