WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Mattie Burbage says she's not much of a talker, but her few words are full of wisdom.

"I think I live a good, clean life and I try to live a good life," says Burbage, who just celebrated her 105th birthday.

"Truthfully, it doesn't matter," she says. "I feel fine most of the time."

Burbage lives at Agape Senior Assisted Living in West Columbia, where friends and family celebrated her birthday earlier this month. She recently retired from crocheting afghans that she gave to her minister to distribute to hospice patients, elderly and needy children.

"I just made them for pastime," she says. "I think I made about 100 of them. I enjoyed giving them to him."

Burbage raised four children, who gave her four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

"I am real proud of them," she says.

As for offering words to live by, Burbage says, "The only thing I want them to do is live a good, clean life."
