GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police responded to an accident involving a single vehicle on I-75 in Grand Blanc Township at around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Grand Blanc Township Police say a Chevrolet Cruze was traveling around 100 miles an hour when it left the road and hit the concrete supports for a bridge at the Dort Highway overpass.

They say the car was swerving from lane to lane when it appears the driver lost control. Police say the car was nearly split in half.

The driver, a 20-year-old from Oakland County, was killed. Officials shutdown I-75 southbound for several hours. Traffic was backed up for miles.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the wreck. The victim's name has not been released.
