BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Police say they have arrested a teen accused of walking into a local motel posing as a Michigan State Police officer.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday at the Budget Inn in Bay City. The man did not have a gun but was wearing a badge and shoulder patches that were consistent with an MSP uniform.

The suspects told staff at the motel that he was responding to a call at the business.

Acting on tips from the public, a 17-year-old Bay County resident was arrested without incident. Several items were also seized as evidence.

He is being held in the Bay County Jail, charged with impersonating a police officer. He could spend up to a year in jail.
