Police found the man who walked away from the Caro Regional Center in Tuscola County on Tuesday.
Dean Jenkins, 42, walked away from the facility around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was seen running westbound from the facility.
"We set up a perimeter immediately. We contacted canine and we also contacted MSP Aviation who were waiting on the weather to fly out here," said Lt. Mitch Krugielki, with Michigan State Police post in Caro.
Krugielki said with the consistent rain in Caro on Tuesday, Mother Nature added an extra challenge for search teams.
"It always does, but I think it also provided some challenges for the subject as well," Krugielki said.
Krugielki said this wasn't the first time they've responded to a runaway at the Caro center. He said if the public wants to stay alerted if this happens again they can sign up for free email and text alerts through Nixle.
"Within minutes we provided a Nixle alert. We also did a media release and informed the public as soon as we found out," Krugielki said.
The Tuscola County's Sheriff Office assisted the state police in the investigation.
