A fatal crash involving a gravel hauler occurred at the intersection of Mackinaw and Salzburg in Bay County.

A driver of a car, identified as 83-year-old Vida Jeanne Henry, ran a red light and hit the gravel hauler truck, police said. The passenger in Henry's car, 60-year-old Donald William Kloppe Jr. was killed in the crash.

Henry was transported to Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland where she was treated for critical injuries. Kloppe Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the gravel truck, 57-year-old Rick Anthony Frayer, sustained no injuries. Frayer was driving the truck for Pats Gradall Service Inc.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday, closing Mackinaw between Hotchkiss and Salzburg.

Police believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The accident is under investigation.
