Border Patrol agents were tuned in when a man tried to cross the border with nearly 5 pounds of meth hidden inside a musical instrument and stopped him in his tracks.
A Mexican man was arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle through the Port of Nogales about 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine in an accordion, according to Customs and Border Protection.
The meth, worth nearly $13,600, was wrapped in black tape and stashed in the center of the instrument.
Eloy Renteria-Ortiz, 18, was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
The drugs and instrument were seized.
