UPDATE:  The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 5 people were sent to the hospital Friday evening after a car slammed into another.

THP says it happened at 4:27 pm on Highway 19E at Winters Road. That's at the Carter County/North Carolina line.

According to THP, a 1999 Dodge Caravan driven by a 17-year-old crossed the center line and hit a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser head on.

The Dodge Caravan then rolled over onto its top and the PT Cruiser stopped in the roadway.

45-year-old Evangeline Hurder, the driver of the PT Cruiser, was taken to Cannon Hospital in North Carolina along with 12-year-old Bradford Hurder. 14-year-old Graham Hurder, the other child in the PT Cruiser, was flown to Johnson City Medical Center.

All 3 are from Johnson City.

31-year-old Tiffany Church from Elk Park, NC was also flown to Johnson City Medical Center.

The name of the 17-year-old driver of the Dodge Caravan, also from Elk Park, NC,  is not being released.

THP says he will be charged with Driving Left of Center and Financial Responsibility.

A two-vehicle wreck on Highway 19E near the Carter County/North Carolina line has stopped traffic.

According to Carter County 911 dispatch, the crash happened in front of a fireworks stand around 4:30 p.m.

Injuries were reported and a medical helicopter had been sent to the scene of the crash.
