Bay City's Gary Barber has driven power boats at the Bay City River Roar presented by Maier and Associates for years, but had never won the pole position. Until now.
Barber placed 4th, 2nd, and 6th in his three heat runs today, which was enough to earn the first spot in tomorrow's Formula Light race.
Meanwhile, a familiar name won the pole position for the Formula Two race. Robert Rinker, son of 4-time River Roar winner, Terry Rinker, earned the top spot for tomorrow's F2 race.
Robert is the defending F2 champion at the River Roar.
Racing gets underway at 11:45am on Sunday.
