Johnson City man arrested for setting woman on fire

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Update:

The man accused of trying to set his wife on fire, was in Sessions Court Monday.

Timmy Thurman, 21, currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center, was set at a $50,000 bond.

He reportedly has not made bail and Bill McManus was appointed his attorney by the court.

Thurman was scheduled to be back in Sessions Court on Thursday at 9 a.m. in Judge Arnold's courtroom.

A Johnson City man was arrested Saturday after police said he set a woman on fire.

Johnson City Police officers arrested Timmy Thurman, 21, after an investigation into a domestic disturbance.

Police said Thurman held a knife to a woman's throat before dousing her in body spray and setting it on fire.

According to police, the woman suffered second degree burns to her ear, neck, and shoulder area.

Thurman is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He faces additional pending charges from other jurisdictions.
