A Huron County man is recovering after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and smashed into a home in Bad Axe on Saturday.
The incident happened on South Port Crescent Road in Bad Axe around 5 p.m.
Police say the truck crashed through the side of the home and ended up coming to rest in the basement area. All occupants of the home made it out safely.
When officers attempted to enter the home, they detected the strong smell of gas. There were also arcing wires in the basement area.
The Bad Axe Fire Department was called to the scene and disconnected electricity and gas service to the home.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Robert Bender of Port Hope, was unresponsive and pinned inside of the vehicle.
The fire department used the Jaws of Life to extricate Bender from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
