Local roads listed as 'top priority' projects by state

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A newly released list by the state details road projects that are deemed 'top priority' and a few of those projects are right here in mid-Michigan.

Being on that list will mean that those roadways could see additional funding from the state.

State lawmakers have set aside $115-million in additional funding for 125 projects that have been decided upon as the most in need.

The Department of Transportation released a list of the shovel-ready projects on Wednesday that will be getting that additional funding.

State projects were chosen by the Michigan Department of Transportation while state lawmakers chose local projects in consultation with county road agencies.

Dort Highway in Genesee County is the most expensive project at $5.6 million. The second-most expensive is Business U.S. 10 in Midland at $4 million.
