Westfield police are warning residents about a possible credit and debit card scam.
Police say that they have received several reports of fraudulent charges on residents' cards.
The charges are occurring in the New York, New Jersey area even though the victims still have the cards in their possession.
Westfield police say it appears that the thieves are using counterfeit cards but are working to identify how they received the information.
Residents are being advised to monitor their statements closely and to report any unauthorized charges to the police and their bank or credit card company as soon as possible.
