WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron discussed Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq and the status of Iran nuclear talks during a Sunday phone call.

On Ukraine, the White House says the leaders agreed Russia has not made progress complying with steps to calm the situation. They agreed Western nations should impose deeper costs on Russia if it "does not take immediate steps toward de-escalation."

The White House says Obama and Cameron welcomed progress toward resolving an election impasse in Afghanistan and agreed to work with all parties in Iraq to form an inclusive government.

On Iran, the White House says the leaders called for the Islamic republic to take the necessary steps to assure the international community that its nuclear program will be "exclusively peaceful."
