MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

Mount Pleasant City Police responded to a motel Saturday to a report of a man dragging a woman by her hair.

Officers arrived at the Super 8 Motel, 2323 S. Mission St., at 9:50 p.m. Upon arrival of the scene an officer saw the suspect's vehicle leave the parking lot with the victim inside. The officer issued a traffic stop in the Target parking lot.

The 50-year-old woman got out of the vehicle and ran to the police car asking for help, police said.

The suspect, a 51-year-old West Branch man, then took off heading eastbound on Bluegrass Road at speeds up to 75 miles per hour, police said.

The suspect's vehicle lost control at the intersection of Bluegrass and Isabella roads, crashing into a parked truck in a driveway of a residence. The crash caused both vehicles to smash into the garage at the residence.

The suspect sustained minor injuries from the crash and was treated by MMR on the scene and taken to the hospital. He is currently not in custody because of the injuries he sustained from the crash, police said.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

The woman received injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. The suspect and victim were dating.

Warrants are being sought for the suspect's arrest.

Mt. Pleasant police were assisted by Central Michigan University Police, Isabella County Sheriff Department, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response.
