Anonymous tip helps police find murder suspect

Posted: Updated:

A second suspect was nabbed after the shooting death of a Saginaw man in broad daylight.

In less than two weeks police got their men. They arrested the two suspects in a killing that took place on July 5. Aaron Turner was caught in broad daylight at a home in Saginaw. The first suspect, Devonaire Sims, was nabbed last week.

Sgt. Reggie Williams said they captured Turner with help from someone in the community.

"It's the only way we were able to get these things taken care of and wrapped up as quickly as we can," Williams said.

Sunday's arrest came through an anonymous tip, and police said they are using all sorts of tools to make these high profile arrests.

"The call for Aaron Turner came into 911 anonymously, so that's great. So I think a dent is being made," Williams said.

Crimestoppers is an organization that solicits anonymous tips on unsolved crimes. It's one of the tools police are using. Willie Haynes, with the organization, said he believes residents have had enough and are now stepping up.

"The community is tired of the crime in our community. The neighborhood associations are standing up, and the community is coming together to help try to solve some of these crimes and working with law enforcement," Haynes said.
