WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A Jonesborough family wants to know who came onto their property and slashed one of their horses with a box cutter.

According to a report filed with the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Office, it happened between 8 p.m. Monday July 14th and 8 a.m Tuesday July 15th at a farm on Frank Lowe Road.

"An unknown suspect used some type of cutting instrument to cut an approximate 3 inch gash in the left rear leg of the victim's quarter horse," the report stated.

Pooled blood was found near the residence. Investigators found disposable box cutters wrapper near the scene.

The horse named Romeo belongs to Aylssa Greer. She said she had planned to include the horse in her wedding which is coming up in several weeks. Due to Romeo's injuries he will not be able to participate.

Greer remains hopeful those responsible will be brought to justice.  "I'd like to see them caught and punished. It's inhumane," said Greer.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
