A lawyer for a 12-year-old Detroit boy who was found in the basement of his home says the child is doing well living with his mother.
Attorney Arthur Bowman said during a hearing Thursday that Charlie Bothuell V is in good shape.
The child's father and stepmother are seeking a jury trial for custody.
The state has alleged that Charlie Bothuell IV and Monique Dillard-Bothuell abused the boy, which they deny. They have not been criminally charged with abuse or in the boy's disappearance. Authorities are still investigating.
Thursday's hearing was about their rights to two other children, ages 4 and 11 months, as well as the father's rights to Charlie.
The boy was reported missing in June before police found him after an 11-day search.
