BEECH ISLAND, SC (WFXG) -

An 21-year-old man is wanted after Aiken County deputies said he shot another man in the groin early Thursday.

Deputies said Alex James Pitts went to the home of Ronald Mixon, 35, on the 100 block of Cherry Lane just after midnight and started an argument.

Pitts presented a handgun and pointed it at Mixon, according to the sheriff's office. Mixon grabbed an aluminum baseball bat and hit Pitts with the bat. Pitts then shot Mixon in the groin and left.

Mixon was treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.

Pitts is wanted on arrest warrants for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Anyone with information that may help locate Pitts is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff's office at 803-648-6811 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC (1-888-274-6372). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
