Summer heat and humidity return to mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

Get ready to fire up those air conditioners! A blast of Summer heat has moved into the area, offering a stark contrast to the Autumn-like weather we saw just one week ago.

A large ridge of high pressure that set up shop over the central United States this weekend will begin to migrate eastward into the Great Lakes region as the new work week begins.

Humidity levels will be on the increase, along with a substantial jump in temperatures around the region. Riding along a warm southwesterly wind, temperatures around Mid-Michigan on Monday will reach the middle to upper 80s in most locations under a mainly sunny sky.

The heat will not stop there, however. Tuesday looks to bring high temperatures into the low 90s, and humidity levels will reach their peak.

While the heat and humidity will make for great pool or beach weather, be sure to take the proper precautions to protect your health.

Try to limit any outdoor activities or exercise to the early morning, or late evening hours if possible. Be sure to keep hydrated with plenty of water, and have a place set up where you can keep cool during the daytime heat.

Temperatures are expected to cool off by midweek, with the arrival of a cold front and a possible round of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday.
