Scorcher expected as warm front moves through

Posted: Updated:

It is heating up across Mid-Michigan as temperatures reached the upper 80's on Monday with heat indices near 90 degrees.

We can expect more of the same on Tuesday as it's going to be couple degrees hotter. Expect highs in the low 90s.

It will be mostly sunny through the middle part of the day, then clouds will increase and winds will pick up.

Here are some tips to keep your family safe. If you have air conditioning, use it. Stay indoors and limit your exposure to the sun.

If you have things to do outside, try to get them done in the morning or later in the evening.

If you think it's hot for you, it's even worse for your pet. The humane society says be sure to provide your pet with plenty of shade and water.

Be careful when taking them for walks as the hot pavement can burn their paws. Never leave your pet in a parked car. When it's 90 degrees outside, it can be more than 130 degrees in your vehicle.

Temperatures begin to cool later in the week. Showers and thunderstorms will develop overnight on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.

This system will actually cool us off quite a bit. On Wednesday, afternoon highs will only be in the middle 70's.
